About The Position

As a Senior Merchant, you will lead a cross-functional buying matrix team, establish strategy and manage budgets to drive profitable growth, develop robust partnerships with suppliers, and use vision and creativity to impact the customer experience for both stores and eCommerce channels. You know your customers’ needs and suppliers better than anyone else and are constantly thinking about what is next for your business. Success in this role requires tenacity, an analytical mindset, influence, ability to meet deadlines, and a competitive spirit. You’ll use your executive presence to work with suppliers at all levels and navigate interesting, complex challenges. You are comfortable managing a multimillion-dollar business with profit and loss responsibility. You are an entrepreneur and enjoy being the CEO of your business. You are customer-focused, understand customer behavior across stores and eComm channels, and make customer-centric recommendations and decisions across all touchpoints. You have proven digital acumen and understand how to leverage it to drive your omni channel business. You are data savvy: you can analyze performance, understand trends, and translate results into strategies. You have strong communication skills that enable you to convey complex topics in a concise manner to various audiences. You guide suppliers, vendors, and your cross functional team in the development of customer focused processes and products. You are tenacious, dedicated and thrive working with ownership, autonomy, and a healthy dose of competition.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in category management, including strategy development and execution for complex categories.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing profit and loss, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Demonstrated ability in supplier management and negotiation to drive price leadership and profitability.
  • Effective team management skills, including coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making capabilities to influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in merchandising, retail operations, and adapting strategies based on customer insights and data analysis.
  • Ability to lead initiatives that enhance customer experience across omni-channel environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, or related field OR 2 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.
