About The Position

This is a full-time, outpatient therapist opportunity embedded within a primary care pediatric clinic. The LMHC will work as a member of the pediatric primary care department to provide short-term therapy to patients with clinical mental health conditions including but not exclusive of anxiety, depression, and other mood related conditions as well as ADHD and behavioral dysregulation. The role involves conducting psychosocial assessments, providing clinical services to pediatric patients that address psychosocial, environmental, age-specific, and cultural issues in order to maximize emotional, social, and physical well-being and the effective/efficient use of health care and community resources. The position also requires availability to Pediatricians for consultations and acute assessments during routine clinic encounters. The therapist will work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary health care team and be comfortable referring to and collaborating with interdepartmental specialists and programs, outside agencies, and other relevant community resources.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Related Field of Study required
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor [LMHC - State License]
  • Experience providing mental health counseling, with a focus on diverse populations and complex mental health conditions.
  • 5-7 years required.
  • Proven expertise in evidence-based counseling techniques, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to supervise and support junior counselors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of building rapport and fostering a therapeutic relationship with clients.
  • Knowledge of ethical guidelines and legal regulations in mental health counseling.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and training with elementary aged (5-11) children
  • CBT preferred.
  • Related experience in community health work or early childhood preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for clients experiencing mental health issues, emotional difficulties, and behavioral challenges.
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and screenings to identify clients' specific concerns and diagnoses.
  • Provide crisis intervention and immediate support to clients in distress or facing emergencies.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of mental health counseling programs, including designing new interventions and workshops.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior counselors, guiding their professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with other mental health professionals, medical staff, and community resources to ensure comprehensive care for clients.

  • Utilizes supervision and consultation regularly and appropriately.
  • Engages in quality improvement projects, uses data to measure progress.
  • Attends and participates in unit meetings, division meetings, and staff meetings.
