About The Position

The team that this role will be on is the Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) data platform team, which comprises 15 talented engineers located across India and the United States. This team embodies a hybrid work culture that prioritizes fast deliverables while fostering cross-geographic collaboration. The mission of the team is to build a robust observability platform that empowers customers to proactively monitor and manage their infrastructure and applications, thus ensuring a unified experience for Nutanix users. You will report to the Director of Engineering, who leads with an emphasis on autonomy and ownership within the team. The manager encourages innovation and collaboration, providing mentorship while allowing team members to take initiative in their projects. This role operates in a hybrid setup, with expectations for in-office attendance a few days each week to facilitate collaboration and team engagement. There are no travel requirements for this position, allowing the candidate to focus on their work without the need for business trips.

Requirements

  • 8 - 12 years of experience in software engineering with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related fields.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Golang, Python, Scala, Java, or C++.
  • Experience with database technologies and optimizing workloads.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies, Kubernetes ecosystem, and microservice patterns.
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating ownership and accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Data Marts, Data Lakes, and Data Warehouses is advantageous.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop features for the NCM data platform, ensuring high performance for both on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Participate in data modeling discussions to influence the data products roadmap based on service team requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, documentation, and product management, to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Propose and implement best practices for operationalizing data platforms, enhancing data catalog and tracing capabilities.
  • Create and optimize data processing jobs using Apache Spark for complex data engineering tasks.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a team-oriented culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Continuously assess and enhance the team’s technology stack while adapting to evolving industry standards.
  • Establish key performance indicators for the first year to measure the impact and success of the data platform initiatives.
