Senior Member of Technical Staff, Developer Experience
About The Position
The company is building an AI-led commercial insurance distribution platform, experiencing rapid growth and aiming for significant scaling. They are focused on improving the developer inner loop to ensure velocity translates into reliable production code rather than rework. The role involves building and maintaining the core developer experience, including dev environments, testing frameworks, CI pipelines, and internal tooling, to support both human engineers and AI coding agents. The goal is to create a fast, trusted, and efficient path from idea to production for all engineers at the company.
Requirements
- 3–6 years software engineering experience
- Developer platform / CI/CD / build infra / dev-environment experience
- Production eval-framework integration into CI (at least one)
- Strong written communication
- Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate

- Built devcontainers or comparable cloud dev environments
- Custom lint-rule authoring
- Open-source contribution to a developer-tools project
- Experience writing code with AI daily and opinions on rules files, repo-level agent guidance
Responsibilities
- Cut CI build times by optimizing monorepo, implementing incremental builds, and remote caching, targeting CI <5 min on p95.
- Own dev environment reliability, ensuring parity between local, staging, and CI environments, with a target of booting a working environment in <10 min, ensuring reproducibility and containerization.
- Detect, isolate, and dashboard flaky tests, ensuring they are fixed or quarantined and never silently retried.
- Integrate the eval stack into CI for pre-merge gates, offline experiments, and production trace monitoring.
- Ship PR preflight automation, including service impact, tests run, missing tests, migrations, and critical-path warnings.
- Build internal developer-platform pieces such as service templates, scaffold generators, doc indexers, and internal CLI commands.
