About The Position

The Senior Medical Science Liaison is part of Biogen’s US Medical Affairs team, which helps inform medical practice across therapeutic areas and the pipeline to improve patient outcomes. The role engages Key Medical Experts (KMEs) and other healthcare professionals (HCPs) so they understand the clinical and scientific narrative for Biogen’s therapies. The territory covers Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, and the successful candidate must reside within its boundaries. The position builds strategic, long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders and serves as a responsive, solutions-driven partner to the medical community. It contributes to initiatives aligned with US Medical strategy and delivers against medical excellence goals. The role develops and executes KME engagement plans, coordinates resources with field and non-field colleagues, and accurately captures and reports KME and HCP medical insights in Veeva to inform medical and clinical strategies. The role requires travel of at least 60%, including overnight travel and occasional weekends.

Requirements

Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, or DNP) in a clinical or scientific-related field.
At least 3 years of field MSL experience.
Reside within the Indiana, Michigan, or Ohio territory boundaries.
Established relationships with healthcare professionals and key medical experts relevant to the therapeutic area within the territory.
Communicate concisely, confidently, and credibly; understand other viewpoints, listen empathetically, and adapt communication to the audience.
Comfort with technology and willingness and aptitude to learn and use new tools and systems.
Reliably deliver against goals and metrics, with motivation to meet or exceed KPIs.
Understand and follow industry rules and ethical requirements.
Able to travel at least 60% of the time, including overnight and occasional weekend travel.
At least 18 years of age, with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Authorized and able to drive a company-leased vehicle or rental.

Responsibilities

Engage KMEs and HCPs as a credible medical and scientific expert to support informed clinical decisions about disease states and Biogen products.

Participate in projects and initiatives aligned with US Medical strategy, objectives, and tactics.

Deliver high-value KME engagement plans by navigating office resources in collaboration with field and non-field colleagues.
Capture and report KME and HCP medical insights accurately and consistently in Veeva to inform medical and clinical strategies.
