The role of Senior Medical School Admissions Consultant is for an experienced physician with a thorough understanding of the medical school admissions landscape. This position involves guiding aspiring physicians through their application journey, including strategy development, personal statement refinement, interview preparation, and school selection. The consultant will act as a key advisor, helping students showcase their strengths to gain admission to their preferred medical schools. This is a part-time, remote, 1099 contract position open to candidates in the United States and Canada.

Requirements

  • Served on a medical school admissions committee or admissions board with experience reviewing applications and making acceptance and rejection decisions, providing insights into the medical school selection process
  • Completed an MD or DO degree
  • 5–7 years of experience in education, coaching, tutoring, and/or medical school admissions consulting
  • A passion for coaching
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong English reading, writing, and editing skills, particularly for medical school essays and personal statements
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Expertise in project management and applicant tracking

Responsibilities

  • Work with prospective medical school candidates, helping them identify opportunities to build their profile and draft compelling medical school application documents
  • Manage relationships with applicants and families while providing strategic and tactical guidance on medical school selection, essays, resumes, recommendations, interviews, and the overall medical school admissions process
  • Identify optimal medical programs and medical schools for individual students; provide feedback and guidance to students regarding their research on university programs and relevant admissions resources, finding alignment with the student’s background and goals
  • Support students with project planning, application timeline management, and progress tracking through internal organizational tools
  • Stay up to date on the medical school admissions process and programs to advise prospective and existing clients on appropriate school selection and the nuances of applying to medical school
