As a Senior Medical Editor at Real Chemistry, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and impact of our medical communications. Working within the Medical communications team, you will be responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying a wide range of scientific and promotional content across various media. Your expertise will help uphold the highest editorial and compliance standards while enhancing content quality for our clients. This is a hybrid role, based in any of our US offices — New York City, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Carmel (IN), or Lambertville (NJ) — or remotely within the US, depending on team and business needs.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in medical editing, preferably in a medical communications agency or related industry.
  • Strong foundation in medical and scientific terminology with the ability to translate complex information into clear, audience-appropriate content.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Exceptional proofreading and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and adherence to style and compliance guidelines.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI-driven tools and their applications in medical editing is a plus.
  • An advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the editing and proofreading of medical and commercial communications, ensuring clarity, accuracy, flow, and adherence to client style guides and industry regulations.
  • Apply deep medical and scientific expertise to refine content, enhance readability, and ensure proper terminology usage.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical, Client Services, Design, and Project Management teams to maintain quality, meet deadlines, and align content with strategic objectives.
  • Conduct rigorous fact-checking and source verification to maintain scientific integrity and compliance with industry standards.
  • Implement AI-driven editing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in content review.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, guidelines, and best practices, advocating for editorial excellence across projects.
