Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer

KLA•Milpitas, CA
•$141,300 - $240,200

About The Position

The Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer will provide technical leadership for complex mechanical systems and major subsystems used in advanced multi-beam e-beam inspection and review systems. The role owns development from concept through production, makes system-level decisions, and influences future platform architectures while remaining hands-on with design, analysis, prototyping, troubleshooting, and integration. The engineer works across mechanical, electrical, controls, systems, manufacturing, service, suppliers, and customers to translate demanding requirements into innovative, reliable, and manufacturable solutions. Work involves precision mechanics, vacuum, thermal management, vibration, high voltage, system integration, and manufacturing readiness. The position also contributes to technology roadmaps, platform architecture, and the technical development of other engineers.

Requirements

  • Doctorate (Academic) degree and 3 years of related work experience, or a master's degree and 6 years of related work experience, or a bachelor's degree and 8 years of related work experience.
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and experience designing complex electromechanical or precision-engineered systems.
  • Experience with vacuum chamber design is required.
  • Demonstrated experience owning hardware or subsystem development from concept through integration and validation.
  • Strong knowledge of precision machine design, including GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials, machine elements, and fabrication methods.
  • Experience with mechanical analysis and simulation, such as structural, thermal, vibration, fluid, or finite element analysis.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools.
  • Experience integrating mechanical hardware into complex multidisciplinary systems.
  • Ability to lead technical decisions, communicate trade-offs, and drive resolution of complex engineering problems.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills.
