Senior Mechanical Project Engineer - Data Center Operations
About The Position
FST Technical Services is hiring a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer for its Commissioning division, supporting data center and other mission-critical environments. The role leads commissioning across the full lifecycle of large-scale data center projects, validating that systems are designed, installed, and performing as intended. The position requires technical expertise, field leadership, and ownership of system performance from design through execution. The successful candidate will mobilize to Atlanta, Georgia, and remain site-dedicated for the duration of the project assignment. The position is not remote or rotational from home, and travel to project sites is required as project demands dictate. No visa sponsorship is available; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
Requirements
- Degree in HVACR, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in commissioning engineering.
- At least 3 years of data center experience.
- Experience with HVAC, controls, automation, and fire safety systems.
- Ability to read construction documents.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in field environments and lift 30 lbs.
- Willingness to mobilize to Atlanta, Georgia, and remain site-dedicated for the duration of the project assignment.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning activities across the full lifecycle of data center construction, including L1–L5.
- Execute functional testing, witness testing, and system validation.
- Manage assignments within schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
- Evaluate HVAC, chiller, boiler, pump, and automation systems.
- Troubleshoot system performance issues and review design documentation.
- Lead meetings and communicate findings.
- Build relationships with clients and contractors.
- Complete reports and manage time and expenses.
- Mentor junior engineers and support training.
