About The Position

We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Planner to join our Mechanical Maintenance Team in Long Harbour, NL. The role is a permanent on-site position, working a 4x10s Monday to Thursday schedule at our Long Harbour Operations Site. As a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and scheduling of maintenance projects and ensuring that all activities are executed efficiently and in alignment with organizational objectives. Your experience and skills will have a strong focus on project management, resource allocation, and coordination among multiple departments to achieve timely and successful completion of maintenance initiatives.

Requirements

  • Post secondary education is required in a mechanical discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience in Maintenance Planning, Maintenance Supervision, or a closely related discipline in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
  • Previous experience coordinating major maintenance activities is required.
  • Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong understanding of fixed plant asset repairs and maintenance processes.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex project priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference may be given to a Bachelor of Engineering Degree or Engineering Technologist Diploma.
  • An Interprovincial Red Seal may be considered.
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with CMMS such as SAP for project controls would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development and implementation of maintenance schedules, ensuring adherence to established timelines and standards in correspondence with site scheduler and controllers.
  • Support the execution of maintenance projects and preventive maintenance programs by collaborating and communicating with cross-functional teams ensuring ensure seamless execution of the project.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust schedules as necessary to address changing priorities and resource availability as well as facilitate effective communication and collaboration between maintenance, operations, engineering, procurement, and external vendors.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Manage and prioritize backlogged work orders, balancing immediate operational needs with long-term strategic goals.
  • Lead project meetings and serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders involved in maintenance planning and execution.
  • Actively monitoring project progress and making necessary adjustments to schedules to address changing priorities and resource availability.
