About The Position
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to lead estimating efforts across large-scale ICI and high-rise residential/commercial projects. This role is ideal for a self-sufficient professional who can independently price complex jobs, manage high-value rooftop equipment estimates, and contribute to securing contracts. Project values typically range from $5M to $35M, requiring strong technical knowledge across plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal systems.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in mechanical estimating
- Strong expertise in plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal systems
- Proven experience with ICI and high-rise construction projects
- Ability to independently manage full-cycle estimating on large-scale projects
- Experience pricing projects in the $5M–$35M range
- Familiarity with Autobid (or similar estimating software) is considered a strong asset
- Strong understanding of Ontario codes, standards, and construction practices
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- A self-driven leader who can take ownership of the estimating function
- Someone confident in pricing jobs independently and making strategic decisions
- A team player with the ability to mentor junior estimators over time
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to help win work and close deals
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical systems (plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal)
- Independently analyze drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Perform detailed take-offs and pricing for ICI and high-rise residential/commercial projects
- Handle high-cost rooftop unit pricing and equipment analysis on a daily basis
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Lead bid submissions and actively participate in closing contracts
- Identify cost risks, value engineering opportunities, and scope gaps
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and leadership teams
- Maintain organized documentation of estimates and bid history
