About The Position

Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Senior Engineer develops creative and technically superior engineering solutions appropriate to each project assigned with increased levels of accountability, skill/expertise, and leadership. This role involves delivering engineering design excellence, generating inventive, fresh ideas, developing design concepts for products, parts and assemblies, creating detailed CAD models, and developing product documentation that supports high quality production. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will also focus on quality and continuous improvement, manage deliverables, mentor entry-level staff, participate in scope, schedule, and cost management, interact with clients, and conduct various forms of research including brainstorming, user research, and usability tests.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related field
3-6+ years of professional experience in engineering and product development
Possesses good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD.
Intermediate knowledge in geometric tolerance analysis.
Proficient in documentation, dimensioning, and specification writing.
Experience designing for varied types of fabrication and production, especially sheet metal, weldments, injection molding.
Experience with automation, material handling or robotics.
Proficient using hand tools and building/fabricating large prototypes.
Synthesizes and drives towards appropriate solutions.
Able to work independently with minimal direction.
Able to own system designs and proactively suggest and implement design improvements.
Adequately uses Microsoft Office applications: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).
Detail oriented work style and service.
Works and thinks in a methodical and logical way.
Prioritizes and completes tasks to deliver desired outcomes within allotted time frames.
Works collaboratively with colleagues and clients.

Responsibilities

Delivers engineering design excellence.
Generates inventive, fresh ideas expressed through sketching that meets functional requirements.
Adjusts and/or incorporates changes in design based on feedback from management and/or client.
Develops design concepts for products, parts and assemblies.
Creates detailed CAD models of parts and assemblies.
Develops product documentation that supports high quality production.
Employs DFM, DFA and DFQ.
Uses advanced engineering modeling and simulation tools, instrumentation and measurement and design of experiments.
Delivers flawless deliverables to client.
Manages deliverables and timing for self.
Delivers products that meets Kaleidoscope’s standards and when appropriate, international standards and regulations.
Checks own work and that of peers, as requested.
Mentors and collaborates with entry level staff.
Participates in management of scope, schedule and cost.
Presents to internal and external audiences.
Represents Kaleidoscope in a positive fashion.
Participates in project research and brainstorming teams.
