About The Position

Globe Machine Manufacturing, a company with a long history of designing and building industrial machinery, systems, and plants for various industries, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Product Design Engineer. This role involves designing and developing complex, custom industrial machinery and equipment. It is a hands-on position with significant responsibility, covering the entire lifecycle from initial concept and detailed design through manufacturing, testing, installation, and start-up. The engineer will collaborate with various teams including designers, manufacturing, controls engineering, project management, vendors, and customers to bring ideas to fruition. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys creating complex mechanical solutions and witnessing their designs transition from digital models to operational machinery at customer sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or comparable education and training in mechanical design engineering.
• Eight or more years of hands-on engineering experience, preferably designing industrial machinery or equipment.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, designers, or drafters.
• Strong experience designing industrial handling, packaging, or related production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
• Strong experience developing detailed mechanical designs and manufacturing documentation.
• Practical knowledge of motors and reducers, drive systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical, electrical, motion, and control components.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to translate customer and production requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across all departments within Globe.
• Strong communication, organization, and project execution skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet demanding timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of complex industrial machinery and systems from concept through manufacturing, testing, installation, and start-up.
• Design complete equipment systems and individual components to meet customer specifications, production requirements, Globe standards, and real-world operating conditions.
• Create and oversee 3D models, mechanical layouts, detailed drawings, bills of materials, manufacturing packages, and supporting technical documentation.
• Apply engineering principles to component selection and sizing, including motors, reducers, drive systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and motion components.
• Develop testing procedures and lead equipment testing, troubleshooting, and performance validation to ensure reliable operation and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Provide technical leadership and direction to designers and drafters throughout the design and documentation process.
• Partner closely with manufacturing, controls engineering, project management, parts, vendors, and customers throughout equipment design, fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Travel to customer sites as needed to support installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and final performance testing.
