About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer in a brand-new Manhattan office, to lead the planning, design, and delivery of healthcare-focused mechanical systems—including HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection. In this role, you’ll collaborate with clients and multi-discipline teams to develop code-compliant, high-performing solutions that support safe, efficient, and resilient facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 14+ years of experience
  • Mastery of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Mastery of technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
  • Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 25% with occasional overnight stays

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of healthcare mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) from concept through construction
  • Serve as a technical leader for project execution, coordination, and delivery across internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve clashes, improve constructability, and support integrated design outcomes
  • Support client communication and technical decision-making throughout project development
  • Guide quality control efforts and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and IMEG practices
  • Provide construction administration support, including responses to RFIs/submittals and field observations as needed
  • Mentor and support the growth of engineering staff through technical guidance and project leadership
