About The Position

Salas O’Brien is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop and lead HVAC and process ventilation design for complex, secure, high-hazard federal facility programs. This role involves supporting the modernization of Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration facilities. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment, leading HVAC and process ventilation design for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects, with a focus on hazardous occupancy and secure facility environments. Responsibilities include providing technical leadership for construction drawings and specifications, existing system studies, and facility master planning, encompassing base building HVAC systems and specialized process ventilation, fume/smoke exhaust, and gas-monitoring systems. The role requires client interaction, collaboration with project teams, code officials, and contractors throughout the design lifecycle. The clientele includes Federal Government (DOE/NNSA), Department of Defense, national laboratory-adjacent programs, Higher Education, Commercial, Health Care, Science and Technology, and other municipal and institutional facilities.
