About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams and projects related to the design, manufacture, and sustainment of US military equipment and systems and other related systems in support of its Indianapolis facility. This position will be a hybrid role with approximately (1-4 days per week onsite) at our Indianapolis, IN facility.

Requirements

  • Mastery in the use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques for designing mechanical constructs.
  • Ability to work independently and solve complex engineering problems for multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Good understanding of the effects of static loads, stress loads, acoustic pressure, altitude, humidity, and other environmental exposures on systems and components.
  • Experience performing FEA structural and thermal analysis using common software packages.
  • Strong background in GD&T and ASME standards (or other industry standards) applied to drawings and models.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams and projects related to the design, manufacture, and sustainment of US military equipment and systems.
  • Work with teams developing, producing, and sustaining radar and related RF systems, electronic warfare systems, communications equipment and systems, acoustic systems, electro-optic systems, weapon system launch and control systems, test equipment, and other military equipment.
  • Perform FEA structural and thermal analysis using common software packages.
  • Standardize mechanical engineering processes and tools for the facility and guide the mechanical engineering team in the implementation of the processes and tools.
  • Manage a team of other Mechanical Engineers, mentor and give guidance to lower-level engineers, and review their work and help them improve their skills.
