Senior Mechanical Engineer

EXP•Atlanta, KS

About The Position

EXP is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for its Mission Critical team, based in Atlanta, with the opportunity to work with a Fortune 500 client. The role involves leading mechanical design and project delivery for building systems, coordinating with other disciplines, managing work plans and deliverables across multiple projects, and performing quality reviews. The engineer will guide and mentor designer-level staff and ensure that designs meet applicable codes, project requirements, quality standards, schedules, and budgets. The work includes developing and reviewing load calculations, specifications, equipment selections and schedules, equipment-room layouts, studies, reports, and sequences of operation. The engineer will apply knowledge of air-side and hydronic systems, psychrometrics, humid-climate design risks, and total energy concepts. The role also includes responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, resolving installation issues, and preparing project documentation appropriate to each design phase.

  • Develop and monitor work plans in conjunction with other project managers.
  • Manage work plans and deliverables for multiple projects within budgeted hours.
  • Write studies and reports for project systems.
  • Write sequences of operation for AHUs, chilled-water (CHW), and hot-water (HW) systems.
  • Apply knowledge of CHW, HW, WSHP, variable-flow, and constant-flow systems.
  • Design air-side systems, including CV and VAV systems, coil selection, and fan selection.
  • Work with hydronic systems, including hot water, chilled water, condenser water, and steam.
  • Apply psychrometric knowledge to projects.
  • Perform advanced equipment selection and analysis for chillers, boilers, air terminals, cooling towers, air valves, HEPA filters, DX equipment, and water-source heat pumps.
