About The Position

Exentec is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to design factory‑automation equipment across a wide range of industries, including semiconductor, medical, automotive, and aerospace. In this role, you will take designs from concept through production, applying strong engineering fundamentals, creativity, and disciplined execution. You will thrive in a fast‑paced environment with short schedules and tight deadlines—without compromising accuracy, quality, or professionalism. The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, technically strong, and capable of managing multiple projects at various stages of development.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in related markets.
  • Minimum 7 years of OEM and factory‑automation design and engineering experience.
  • Full system design‑cycle experience from concept through detailing and release to production.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD (required); experience with Pro‑E or Inventor is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of drawing standards, formatting, dimensioning, and basic GD&T.
  • General understanding of electrical cable harness components and design.
  • Demonstrates initiative, ownership, and self‑sufficiency while knowing when to ask questions.
  • Strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and meeting deadlines.
  • Professional presence and positive communication style that reflects well on the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop system concepts, present design ideas, perform engineering calculations, and create budgets and schedules for subsystem and full‑system automation solutions.
  • Perform analytical calculations, including pressure, flow, and pressure‑drop analysis.
  • Apply material and process knowledge to support the design and manufacturing of sheet‑metal enclosures and related components.
  • Prepare 3D layouts and models based on design specifications; generate detailed part drawings from models.
  • Produce assembly drawings and Bills of Material (BOMs) from assembly models.
  • Lead internal and external design review presentations for discussion, alignment, and approval.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and account managers to select components that optimize cost, lead time, and performance.
  • Support Manufacturing during system builds to ensure adherence to design intent, customer specifications, and industry standards.
  • Partner with Field Service teams to provide onsite engineering support for installation, operation, retrofits, and repairs.
  • Design with cost, manufacturability, and testability in mind.
  • Occasionally work outside standard business hours to meet project deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
