  • Experience with Trane TRACE or IES VE energy modeling software
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%, including overnight trips
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering from an accredited four-year university
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in commercial building design and construction
  • Minimum 5 years serving as the primary engineering interface with clients (either as PM or engineering lead)

Responsibilities

  • Lead HVAC design for complex building systems, overseeing airside, hydronic, and steam systems from concept through construction documents
  • Perform load calculations, system sizing, engineering analyses, and coordinate technical program requirements
  • Conduct engineering studies for sophisticated clients, including lifecycle cost and payback analyses, evaluation of industry trends, and assessment of local contractor/maintenance practices
  • Prepare high-quality technical documents, including Basis of Design reports, engineering narratives, and written explanations for non-technical stakeholders to support informed decision-making

  • Prepare and manage mechanical engineering fees and resource plans
  • Work closely with MEP department heads to allocate staffing and technical resources
  • Monitor budgets throughout the design process and ensure alignment with project financial goals
  • Collaborate closely with architectural, structural, civil, electrical, and plumbing teams to ensure fully coordinated design solutions
