We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to developing cutting-edge solutions for our core robotic manufacturing technologies. This role will be based at our Calgary, AB facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics); P.Eng. designation required
  • 5+ years of robotic systems integration experience in a custom automation environment
  • Practical hands-on mechanical aptitude and a sincere passion for engineering, robotics, and automation
  • Extensive experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • A portfolio of automation projects in which you made significant contributions
  • A willingness to participate in all technical areas of the business as needed to solve complex problems and achieve business impact
  • The capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain timing deadlines
  • Experience in mentoring junior engineers and designers
  • Ability to work onsite at our Calgary factory
  • Ability to travel internationally

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of cutting-edge, industry-first automation systems using a first-principles approach
  • Gather design constraints and produce complex 3D models based on a knowledge of pneumatics, motion (motor control & drives), materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings, specifications, and release bills of materials; own all aspects of the product design phase
  • Design systems for compliance to applicable standards (i.e., CSA, ISO, ANSI, OSHA, customer specific)
  • Establish robust supply chains and manage low-cost manufacturing partnerships
  • Confer with colleagues, suppliers, contractors, customers, and relevant authorities to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and create appropriate technical documentation, including machine manuals
  • Set goals, develop, and maintain equipment build schedules for project launches
  • Research and evaluate mechanical products for application feasibility by applying knowledge of engineering principles for our continual product development
  • Support equipment installations, operation, maintenance, and repairs to ensure that machinery is installed and functioning according to intended specifications
  • Lead and participate in mechanical design reviews
  • Other duties as assigned
