This Senior Mechanical Engineer will join our Commercial Platform engineering team and be responsible for engineering processes, systems and procedures utilized for the design, development, and manufacture of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Science, or a related field.
  • 6 years of progressive experience in engineering processes, systems and procedures utilized for the design and manufacture of HVAC equipment, and working with mechanical design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of drawings, and engineering models.
  • 2 years of experience in HVAC product design and manufacturing.
  • 2 years of experience in Mechanical Product Qualification Test Process including writing test procedures, compiling, and evaluating design, testing data, and preparing technical specifications.
  • 1 year of experience with CAD software.
  • 1 year of experience working with electrical system, control system, and electrical-mechanical components.
  • 1 year of experience with HVAC&R system modeling and simulation.

Responsibilities

  • Product design, engineering, and testing using thermodynamics and heat transfer theories, and relevant tools and software simulation.
  • Perform engineering documentation including bills of materials, cost analysis and Add/Delete.
  • Develop and implement cost reduction opportunities in commercial products.
  • Work on applications for the agency approvals and develop technical data for sales.
  • Research new, unproven engineering technologies for HVAC systems.
  • Conduct design and sizing of system assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components.
  • Apply mechanical design and thermal system design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical drawings, engineering models and performance simulation.
  • Work with Thermal/Fluid System, Electrical System, Control System and Electrical-Mechanical Components.
  • Conduct investigations and evaluation tests of certain complexity pertaining to the development of new air conditioning designs and methods.
  • Formulate test approaches, plan and test procedures, evaluate test results, and provide recommendations.
  • Compile test data and prepare technical specifications.
  • Assist higher level engineers with making product development plans and project schedules.
  • Coordinate with technical support personnel to build design prototypes in the model shop.
  • Coordinate with sourcing, suppliers, supply chain, and manufacturing to prepare project related material and paperwork for prototyping, pilots, PPAP and production release processes.
  • Involved in product qualification plans, product and project risk assessment process, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA), and Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R).
  • Participate in Mechanical Product Qualification Test Process including writing test procedures, compiling, and evaluating design, testing data and preparing technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with controls team, adjust and optimize control systems and algorithms for new products.
  • Lead the documentation management process, literature, prints update and engineering change request, and engineering change notice process.
