About The Position

Pantheon Data is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the mission of the United States Coast Guard in the Washington, D.C. metro area. This role involves providing engineering support to the Maritime Lifecycle Readiness Division, specifically for the US Coast Guard - Surface Forces Logistics Center. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience.
• Design, develop and evaluate operation of marine vessels, shipboard auxiliary systems and piping review.
• Develop technical data packages.
• Knowledge of ABS, USN, and industry standards relating to shipboard auxiliary systems.
• Ability to work effectively remotely in cross-functional teams.
• Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite software including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
• Progressively responsible experience in marine specific fields (i.e. auxiliary systems, piping systems, fluids and hydraulics).
• Ability to obtain Public Trust prior to hire and maintain during employment is required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Auto-CAD
• Familiarity with ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, development, and evaluation of the operation of marine systems, ship machinery, and related equipment, such as auxiliary systems, HVAC&R, and piping systems.
• Support the US Coast Guard by reviewing third-party design modifications and improvements to mechanical systems and components.
• Perform design reviews, evaluating constructability, helping resolve technical issues, and managing information generated through the design and construction phases.
• Conduct analyses of various auxiliary systems and lead the development of technical data packages and reviews.
• Conduct trade studies regarding auxiliary system configuration.
• Conduct mechanical engineering analysis.
• Create graphical representations of structures and systems.
• Inspect auxiliary equipment or systems.
• Assist in research of advanced engineering designs or applications.
• Prepare technical reports for internal use.
• Provide oversight on development of machinery arrangements.
• Lead engineers in development efforts.
• Coordinate with other functional areas to complete ship design.
