About The Position

At TDW, the role supports safe and reliable pipeline operations through engineering expertise and collaboration. The Senior Mechanical Engineer performs detailed engineering analyses using CAE software, particularly ANSYS, and hand calculations to validate new products and new applications for existing products. The role works with other CAE engineers on peer reviews and supports analysis needs for global design teams.

The position evaluates complex geometries and systems under specified loading conditions, verifies analytical results against physical test data, and communicates analysis assumptions and findings through reports and presentations. It also contributes design change recommendations and minor geometry modifications during design iterations.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 7 years of applicable engineering experience.
• Experience with CAE software; ANSYS is preferred.
• Experience performing calculations for engineering design.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with 3D CAD software; SolidWorks and SpaceClaim are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex geometries and systems using ANSYS Workbench to evaluate whether design criteria are met under specified loading conditions.
• Perform structural analysis, including elastic and elastic-plastic analysis, as well as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and thermal analysis.
• Verify analysis results against physical testing data to refine assumptions.
• Write reports clearly describing boundary conditions, assumptions, materials, and analysis outputs.
• Recommend relevant design changes and make minor geometry modifications during design iterations.
• Peer review analyses and calculations performed by other CAE engineers.
• Provide technical presentations on project progress and new findings.
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
