About The Position

T1 Energy is bringing solar manufacturing back to the U.S. by building a domestic solar supply chain. Our mission is to invigorate America with scalable, reliable, and low-cost energy. Our fully operational 5GW solar module facility in Wilmer, Texas, can manufacture more than 20,000 modules every 24 hours. By the time you finish reading this paragraph, we will have produced two solar panels that will power American homes and fuel domestic AI. We're focused on building advanced American manufacturing and we're passionate about engineering a better future filled with abundant energy. The Role T1 Energy is looking to hire an engineer that will sit at the intersection of mechanical systems, controls, and digital infrastructure, making sure machines don't just run, but actually talk to each other and to the systems that run the factory. You'll work on a greenfield advanced manufacturing build, partnering with controls, automation and software teams to integrate complex equipment into a cohesive, data-driven operation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 8 - 12+ years of experience in industrial or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Strong experience with mechanical system design and integration (process equipment, utilities, material handling).
  • Solid understanding of P&IDs, process flows, and facility systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience integrating OEM equipment and working with system integratiors.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in semiconductor, solar, or advanced manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and review of mechanical systems across process equipment, utilities, and material handling.
  • Ensure mechanical designs align with controls architecture, instrumentation, and data flow requirements.
  • Partner closely with Controls and Automation Engineers to integrate equipment into PLC/SCADA and upstream systems (MES, ERP, data platforms).
  • Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning of mechanical and fully integrated systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues across mechanical, controls, and data layers, not just one silo.
  • Work with OEMs and system integrators to scope, design, and implement solutions that actually work on the factory floor.
  • Align equipment and systems with facility infrastructure and overall factory design philosophy.
