About The Position

The Opportunity Hitachi Energy is shaping the future of data center infrastructure—and you can be part of it. As a Data Center Mechanical Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in designing and optimizing the mechanical systems that power the world’s most advanced digital environments. From hyperscale cloud campuses to high‑density colocation sites, you’ll engineer transformer solutions that deliver reliability, efficiency, sustainability, and rapid deployment at a global scale. In this senior expert role, you will guide the development of next‑generation transformer designs—tanks, radiators, cooling systems, structural components, and more—ensuring they integrate seamlessly into evolving data center architectures. You’ll collaborate closely with electrical engineers, system architects, factories, and major global customers, bringing innovation, clarity, and engineering excellence to each stage of the lifecycle. If you’re driven by the challenge of pushing mechanical design boundaries and want to influence a fast‑growing, technology‑critical industry, this is your chance to make a measurable impact on a global scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; Master’s preferred.
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally with power transformers or data center applications.
  • Expertise in transformer mechanical systems such as tanks, radiators, piping, and thermal/cooling components.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., CREO or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of IEEE/IEC transformer standards and customer‑driven requirements.
  • Experience working within global, cross‑functional engineering environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and optimization of transformers built for high‑power‑density data center environments.
  • Develop cooling concepts and validate thermal performance for forced‑air, oil‑natural, oil‑forced, and hybrid systems.
  • Perform mechanical and thermal analyses, including stress, pressure drop, and serviceability evaluations.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to integrate mechanical systems into complete transformer and substation solutions.
  • Participate in customer design reviews and present mechanical concepts and trade‑offs.
  • Support issue resolution throughout design, manufacturing, testing, installation, and operation.
  • Drive standardization, modularity, and innovation in mechanical design, materials, and cooling technologies.
  • Contribute to tender reviews, vendor evaluations, and project execution.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
