This role involves receiving, interpreting, and applying engineering principles to project write-ups, including schedule projections, manpower needs, and material requirements. The engineer will ensure compliance with industry and company codes, research databases for relevant project information, and prepare necessary machinery drawings, plans, and prints. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining documentation, monitoring projects through completion, providing corrections and modifications, and supervising/reviewing the work of other design engineers. The role requires completing designs on time and within budget, ordering parts, and ensuring designs are practical, functional, and meet customer expectations. The engineer will also review other engineers' drawings, check shop write-ups for accuracy, perform calculations and analysis, and provide technical assistance to various departments including sales, production, and testing. Collaboration with electrical engineers on switchgear and cabling is also a key aspect of the role.
