About The Position

A nationally recognized design-build firm with more than $1 billion in active federal construction projects is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical and plumbing engineering design across multiple regions. The role supports U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Army projects, from initial surveying and planning through full RFP design. The position is based in Jacksonville, Florida, and follows a hybrid schedule, with a project portfolio spanning multiple states, Guantanamo Bay, and Puerto Rico. The engineer will lead design for federal and Department of Defense construction projects, ensure compliance with military branch standards across project phases, collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-track design-build environment, and apply sustainable design principles and energy code requirements. Compensation is $135,000–$155,000, commensurate with experience.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with an HVAC and plumbing focus.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
10+ years of HVAC/plumbing design experience within a consulting firm.
Working knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1, 62.1, and 55.
Familiarity with California Title 24 Energy Code.
Hands-on experience with BIM, Revit, and/or AutoCAD.
Background in sustainable design practices.

Nice To Haves

LEED AP certification.
Design-Build or alternative project delivery experience.
Prior work on government or DoD projects.
