We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Airborne & Ground Optics Department in McKinney, Texas. The responsibilities will include all aspects of the mechanical design process from concept to model/drawing completion for mechanical components required to support product builds working under the general supervision of a team lead. Some assembly of your designs may be required. You will work closely with Chief Engineers, Lead Engineers and product engineers. We are specifically seeking candidates who are hands-on, adaptable in a fast-paced environment, proactive, take ownership of work, communicate well with others, and enjoy solving unique problems every day.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience.
  • Experience in the design and prototyping of electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software (CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Experience with planning, coordinating, and tracking small mechanical engineering projects involving three or more contributors, ensuring assigned tasks are completed in accordance with established technical requirements, schedules, and project milestones.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Team leadership experience.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, including knowledge, and understanding of tolerancing.
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • All aspects of the mechanical design process from concept to model/drawing completion for mechanical components required to support product builds.
  • Some assembly of your designs may be required.
  • Work closely with Chief Engineers, Lead Engineers and product engineers.
  • Utilization of RTX tools including CREO modeling software and Product Data Management (PDM).
  • Design and documentation support utilizing engineering tools, Adobe, and MS office suite.
  • Execution of engineering change and drawing release process.
  • Analytical and technical engineering work within a program environment with possible presentations on designs as needed.
  • Train on Raytheon processes and procedures.
  • Work may include participation in building hardware in a lab environment.
