The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support. We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Drafter to support our radar development programs. You will conceptualize, design, integrate, and document mechanical-focused hardware using computer-aided design, mechanical analyses, and consistent coordination and communication across teams to ensure successful hardware performance. This position is onsite and can be either in Tewksbury, MA or Marlborough, MA.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • CREO with advanced modeling and drawing experience.
  • Experience with any Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance analyses, drawing practices and interpretation (ASME Y-14.5) for mechanical hardware.
  • Experience in CREO Parametric, CREO View and Model Based Definition (MBD).
  • Experience in PDM/Windchill
  • Experience in multiple CAD Design Tools – SolidWorks/CREO/AutoCAD
  • Solid understanding of configuration management practices
  • Experience military, or aerospace specifications and/or industry design standards
  • Strong technical background with high technical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Very strong communications and interpersonal skills when working with team members

Responsibilities

  • Oversees plans, lays-out, drawings, and revises detailed part(s), assembly, and installation engineering drawings from basic layouts, references, and data.
  • Completes details of major layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices using computer aided design systems.
  • Determines scaling, inserts necessary reference datums, center and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning.
  • Prepares complete production detail drawings.
  • Develops design drawings according to engineering sketches and proposal specifications.
