About The Position

At FST Technical Services, we ensure the most complex facilities operate exactly as intended. Our Commissioning division partners with clients across data centers and mission-critical environments to validate that systems are designed, installed, and performing at the highest level. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer who brings deep technical expertise, field leadership, and the ability to drive outcomes in high-performance environments. This is a position for someone who owns system performance from design through execution, understands how complex mechanical systems operate as a whole, and can identify and solve issues before they impact operations. You will work on large-scale, mission-critical data center projects where performance, reliability, and precision are non-negotiable.

Requirements

Degree in HVACR, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field
5+ years experience in commissioning engineering
3+ years of Data center experience required
Experience with HVAC, controls, automation, fire safety systems
Ability to read construction documents
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in field environments and lift 30 lbs
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Lead commissioning activities across the full lifecycle of a data center build to include L1-L5
Execute functional testing, witness testing, and system validation
Manage assignments within schedule, budget, and quality expectations
Evaluate HVAC, chillers, boilers, pumps, and automation systems
Troubleshoot system performance issues
Review design documentation
Lead meetings and communicate findings
Build relationships with clients and contractors
Complete reports and manage time and expenses
Mentor junior engineers and support training
