About The Position

Celestica is hiring a Lab Engineer for Materials Evaluations with experience in creative problem solving and failure analysis of materials involved in the manufacturing of electronic components and assemblies. The goal of this role is to continuously improve the quality and reliability of electronic devices through laboratory testing. The Material Analyst is responsible for designing, developing, deploying, executing and optimizing test plans to assess product quality and reliability. We are seeking an experienced Failure Analysis Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive and timely failure analysis, constructional analysis, and technical services to both internal and external customers. As part of this role, you’ll utilize advanced failure analysis analytical tools to investigate and resolve issues related to printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), Integrated Circuits (ICs) and electronics components.

Requirements

  • Experienced in operating, calibrating, maintaining, troubleshooting and interpreting data from failure analysis laboratory equipment including: optical microscopy, SEM, XRF, cross-sectioning grinders and polishers and X-ray.
  • Cross section preparation of electronic printed circuit assemblies & metallurgical assessments of solder joints.
  • Being certified in IPC-A-610 for soldering quality and being certified in IPC-A-600 and IPC-6012 or being familiar with the two standards for inspection of PWBs.
  • Experienced in de-lidding or decapsulation of electronic components.
  • Experienced in performing mechanical testing such as tensile, shear and compression testing.
  • Knowledge of Ion Chromatography testing and evaluation of the results on electronic assemblies.
  • Knowledge of thermal analysis like TMA, TGA and DSC.
  • Demonstrates confidence in describing root cause and corrective actions to internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Experienced in evaluating and selecting new analytical lab equipment
  • Knowledge of electrochemistry and its application to corrosion of electronic assemblies.
  • Excellent English Communication Skills: High levels of organizational, team, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • A high level of emotional intelligence: Consistently demonstrating the open mindedness of a problem solver who can collaboratively engage multiple people, in multiple departments, and work in difficult situations in a positive way.
  • Onsite: This position is 100% onsite –this is not a remote or hybrid position. In addition, the team member must be able to act competently in emergencies and work on a flexible schedule.
  • Expertise in MS-Office and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team to handle all quality excursions independently, and take effective actions on time
  • Oversee the product & material quality from NPI to mass production
  • Develop the quality control plan for respective area (material/process/product)
  • Monitor and report quality KPI for internal (factory) and external (customer)
  • Drive continuous improvement to benefit customer, CLS and supplier.
  • Develop and maintain internal quality system, procedures, work instructions and workmanship standards
  • Lead process/product/system/supplier audit and improvement actions follow up.
  • Industry standards (e.g. ISO) Compliance audit
  • Safety audit etc.
  • Follow up the EC(Engineering Change), SPCN(Supplier Process Change Notification) to ensure the implementation of changes is timely and accurate (initiated both externally and internally)
  • Coach junior quality staff to improve their quality knowledge.
  • Accomplish the jobs assignment from the superior and participate in the quality strategy deployment.
