About The Position

Hogan Lovells, a leading global law firm, is seeking a Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager to lead its Energy sector. This role reports into the Director of Marketing and Business Development – Clients & Sectors and serves as the global M&BD lead for the Energy sector. The position involves developing and executing a comprehensive marketing and business development strategy to drive client engagement, strengthen market positioning, and support the growth of the sector and its aligned practices. This is a hands-on role requiring a coordinated approach to marketing campaigns, client development, pitching, and knowledge development. The successful candidate will possess a strategic mindset, a deep understanding of the energy sector, and the ability to collaborate effectively with partners, lawyers, and colleagues in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

• Eight (8) to ten (10)+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a legal or professional services industry.
• Three (3)+ years of people management experience preferred.
• Established knowledge and experience of the energy industry preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, and post-graduate qualifications (e.g. MBA) advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with sector leadership, M&BD team, and others to design and execute a global strategy that aligns with firm objectives and strengthens market position in the Energy sector.
• Act as the M&BD lead expert for the global Energy team.
• Manage a global team, providing guidance, training, and professional development.
• Lead pitch strategy for the Energy sector, aligning with the sales transformation plan and global pitch coordination.
• Develop and manage responses to RFPs, pitches, and proposals tailored to client needs.
• Lead efforts to enhance the firm’s profile through targeted campaigns, thought leadership, events, and sponsorships.
• Conceptualize and support client seminars, webinars, and other marketing events, managing materials, day-of logistics, and follow-up reporting.
• Oversee directory submissions for relevant rankings and publications.
• Foster relationships with industry associations, leveraging sponsorships to drive client engagement.
• Evaluate, coordinate, and execute sponsorships as well as negotiate agreements and managing participation in sponsorships in order to ensure that the firm maximizes return on its investment.
• Produce, manage and support seminars, receptions, and other marketing-oriented events and activities, including but not limited to event promotion, development of invitations and other client communications, concept development, and vendor selection.
• Collaborate with the PR team to implement profile-raising strategies for the sector and individual partners.
• Ensure effective internal reporting and communication of M&BD activities, supporting management reporting.
• Support the team on the portfolio of clients within the sector including, monitoring and analyzing client financial performance and internal review meetings.
• Conduct client feedback and supporting as client account manager for key clients.
• Contribute to broader M&BD projects and assignments, as appropriate.
• Share best practices and processes across the global sector team.
• Participate in the firm’s Global Citizenship program.
