About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Market Risk Specialist for the Enterprise Counterparty Risk Management (ECRM) organization within Market and Counterparty Risk Management (MCRM). This role is responsible for ensuring an appropriate Risk Management framework exists for products offered by the primary trading and lending desks, with a particular emphasis on Counterparty Credit Risk. The Counterparty Risk Portfolio Monitoring team within ECRM is responsible for monitoring and performing daily variances, trends, market updates, stress testing, and ad-hoc portfolio analysis across all counterparty metrics. The team also conducts robust portfolio surveillance, analyzes counterparty impacts from market-driven events, and provides timely analysis to executive management and regulators. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with counterparty risk knowledge, strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and experience working across cross-functional teams. This role focuses on portfolio analysis, exposure trend monitoring with key insights, market-driven analysis for senior audiences, stress testing, and supporting the development and implementation of expanded risk initiatives. The position requires taking initiative and driving change.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: trading, desk analyst, Capital Markets, market risk, interest rate risk or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

  • Understanding of counterparty risk, including but not limited to, the concept and calculation of CCR risk metrics, OTC derivatives, and SFT products

  • Advanced degree in quantitative field, FRM, or other risk management designation
  • Financial Engineering skills or background

  • Experience working with large data sets and use of data analysis to identify trends

Responsibilities

  • Use counterparty subject matter expertise to support and monitor new frameworks for enhanced counterparty credit risk management.
  • Research daily exposure variance for identification of main drivers and communication of impacts, including stressed exposure monitoring.
  • Provide on-demand analysis based on market driven events and ad-hoc scenarios.
  • Respond to daily and/or trigger-based market updates on the counterparty risk portfolio.
  • Assist with the development of the counterparty exposure monitoring program.
  • Support the extension of the framework to incorporate additional portfolio views.
  • Ensure there are effective processes and rigor with respect to daily, monthly, and quarterly exposure variances and exception validations.
  • Review data, risk reporting, and commentary for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
  • Understand the variables and market factors that impact the firm’s counterparty risk.
  • Work closely with risk managers, data teams, technology, and reporting teams to analyze, review, measure, test, and challenge results.
  • Maintain updated control framework and documentation per enterprise requirements.
  • Understand relevant business, regulatory and risk requirements pertaining to ECRM as well as maintain an awareness of current regulatory trends and resulting impacts.
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for risk analysis and/or presentations from senior managers, regulators, auditors, and other stakeholders.
