We are seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to support our nacelle programs from new product introduction, into sustainment, and hand-off into the aftermarket. Our nacelle structures are built using advanced composite and metallic materials supported by automated layup, bonding, machining, and precision assembly processes. This role focuses on standardizing, optimizing, and automating these manufacturing processes across all components to ensure high‑quality, rate‑ready production. This role partners cross-functionally to ensure manufacturability, improve efficiency, and resolve production challenges while driving continuous improvement and quality performance. Ideal candidates are hands-on problem solvers who thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This position will be located onsite in Chula Vista, CA. Relocation assistance is available.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Experience with manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, composites, or fabrication.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with CAD software; CATIA preferred
  • Experience with root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands on experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems; SAP preferred
  • Experience with tooling design and process validation
  • Experience with Produce Lifecycle Management systems such as Teamcenter.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems such as Solumina

Responsibilities

  • New Product Introduction (NPI) Support preliminary and critical design reviews, ensuring manufacturability is incorporated early in the product lifecycle.
  • Participate in assembly flow events to define optimal, repeatable, and efficient build processes.
  • Support manufacturing readiness activities, including process flow diagrams, PFMEA, process control plans, on-site build support, and issue resolution.
  • Manufacturing Process & Optimization Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing processes—including planning, illustrated planning, standard work combination sheets, manufacturing engineering orders, and configuration control sheets—in alignment with engineering requirements and SPQDC targets.
  • Create and maintain material masters and manufacturing Bills of Materials to support production demand and assembly flow.
  • Develop tooling strategies, contribute to tooling design reviews, and generate tooling work orders.
  • Create rework planning as needed to support product retrofits or design changes.
  • Quality & Compliance Investigate product quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Change Control Evaluate and influence engineering changes for impact on manufacturability, tooling, and production performance.
  • Continuous Improvement Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, product quality, process efficiency, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Support Industry 4.0 initiatives by identifying and implementing smart manufacturing technologies that enhance data visibility, automation, and process efficiency.
  • Collaboration Coordinate with manufacturing engineers across sites, components, and manufacturing disciplines.
  • Address supplier and internal manufacturing inquiries to maintain production continuity.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required to support client engagement and other business-related activities as needed.
