The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will review manufacturing processes and implement cost-effective improvements, focusing on set-up and changeover time reductions, equipment uptime, and continuous process improvements. This role involves close collaboration with various departments including Production, Maintenance, Purchasing, Marketing, and R&D to implement SOPs, setup instructions, training, and debug problem processes and equipment. The engineer will also consult with the Safety team, design and implement safety devices, and lead necessary changes to processes and equipment. Responsibilities include analyzing and reducing scrap and rework, providing manufacturing engineering input for product line start-ups and facility upgrades, initiating cost reduction proposals, managing projects, and designing tools, jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing systems. The role also supports new product development, identifies and procures better equipment, creates building and production line layouts, submits Capital Expense Budgets, and advises on continuous improvement suggestions. Training on new processes and performing inspections using metrology tools are also key duties. The engineer will establish and monitor manufacturing process metrics, develop testing and inspection procedures, and acquire automation equipment. Planning, specifying, troubleshooting, justifying, and organizing cross-functional activities for production launches are essential.
