About The Position

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer located in the St. Louis Missouri area. This role is an opportunity for a seasoned Manufacturing Engineer who wants to take on challenging work, influence high-impact programs, and help drive the performance of one of the most important aerospace manufacturing operations in the industry. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strong technical judgment, and wants to make a visible impact on production performance, execution, and continuous improvement. In this role, you will support airplane subsystem manufacturing, production readiness, and delivery center flyaway operations. You will be a key technical leader, partnering across engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain to improve producibility, strengthen manufacturing processes, and ensure successful delivery of advanced aerospace products.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• 9+ years work-related experience with a Bachelors degree OR an equivalent combination of work-related experience and technical education.
• Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

• B.S. or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
• Experience supporting defense and/or aerospace customers
• Experience with aerospace production
• Experience with 2D blueprints and 3D model based instruction
• Experience with Manufacturing Execution System Common Image (MESci)
• Strong communication skills
• Experience in project management and planning within a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, refinement, and optimization of manufacturing processes for airplane subsystems and related production activities.
• Drive production readiness efforts by identifying risks, removing barriers, and improving process stability and execution.
• Serve as a trusted technical partner across engineering, quality, operations, and supply chain teams to resolve complex manufacturing issues.
• Support delivery center and flyaway operations by improving flow, increasing efficiency, and strengthening product quality and delivery performance.
• Apply data analysis, engineering principles, and hands-on problem solving to identify and implement meaningful improvements.
• Participate in design, production, and readiness reviews, providing expert input on manufacturability, assembly, tooling, producibility, and risk mitigation.
• Lead or contribute to root cause analysis, corrective action, and systemic problem-solving efforts.
• Help ensure a safe, efficient, and high-performing production environment.
• Influence improvements that support cost, schedule, quality, and delivery objectives.
