About The Position

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer located in the St. Louis Missouri area. This role is an opportunity for a seasoned Manufacturing Engineer who wants to take on challenging work, influence high-impact programs, and help drive the performance of one of the most important aerospace manufacturing operations in the industry. In this role, you will support airplane subsystem manufacturing, production readiness, and delivery center flyaway operations. You will be a key technical leader, partnering across engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain to improve producibility, strengthen manufacturing processes, and ensure successful delivery of advanced aerospace products. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strong technical judgment, and wants to make a visible impact on production performance, execution, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 9+ years work-related experience with a Bachelors degree OR an equivalent combination of work-related experience and technical education.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 2D blueprints and 3D model based instruction

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, refinement, and optimization of manufacturing processes for airplane subsystems and related production activities.
  • Drive production readiness efforts by identifying risks, removing barriers, and improving process stability and execution.
  • Serve as a trusted technical partner across engineering, quality, operations, and supply chain teams to resolve complex manufacturing issues.
  • Support delivery center and flyaway operations by improving flow, increasing efficiency, and strengthening product quality and delivery performance.
  • Apply data analysis, engineering principles, and hands-on problem solving to identify and implement meaningful improvements.
  • Participate in design, production, and readiness reviews, providing expert input on manufacturability, assembly, tooling, producibility, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead or contribute to root cause analysis, corrective action, and systemic problem-solving efforts.
  • Help ensure a safe, efficient, and high-performing production environment.
  • Influence improvements that support cost, schedule, quality, and delivery objectives.
