About The Position

Eaton's IS VEH VGNA division is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for its Kings Mountain, NC facility. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, improving, and maintaining manufacturing processes for gear and shaft production, serving both OEM and aftermarket customers. The position aligns with departmental goals focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity. Key activities include researching new technologies, coordinating new product launches, and managing automated manufacturing cells. The expected annual salary range is $86,000 - $126,000. Eaton announced the intent to separate its Mobility Group into an independent company, expected by Q1 2027. Initial compensation and benefits are based on Eaton's plans, with the new company providing further details upon separation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Gear manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with Industry 4.0 tools (e.g., Automation / Additive Manufacturing / SPC / Real-time production monitoring).
  • Experience with statistical methods used to analyze process variations.
  • Design experience in ProEngineer or related CAD systems.
  • 3D printing experience.
  • Experience with PLC related logic and robotics (fanuc) troubleshooting and recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, improve, and maintain processes in the area of responsibility for transmission components.
  • Develop safe work methods and processes that result in a high level of quality.
  • Update work instructions, posted references, process alerts, PFMEA, process flows, control plans, standard work, and related documents.
  • Improve the reliability and capability of equipment.
  • Evaluate related processes for efficiency, waste reduction, and work balancing using Lean tools (A3, VSM, Set Up Reduction).
  • Become a Lean Tool expert in A3, VSM, and Set Up Reduction.
  • Evaluate change notifications and understand their impact on processes.
  • Manage projects involving cross-functional teams (safety, controls, maintenance, material delivery, operators) for process changes and training.
  • Evaluate, improve, and update PFMEAs per APQP guidelines, Work Instructions, and Job Safety Analysis.
  • Develop and test improved fail-safe strategies through part design, 3D printing, and testing.
  • Respond to corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Actively participate in a cross-functional Flow Line team to meet departmental goals.
  • Participate in capital planning, investigate equipment alternatives, prepare appropriation justifications, implement equipment, and evaluate results.
  • Assist in implementing and deploying actions to ensure compliance with all safety regulations and participate in meeting plant Environment, Health, and Safety objectives.
  • Maintain a constant search for identifiable and measurable cost reductions through scrap analysis and technology applications.
  • Work with operations, engineering technicians, and maintenance technicians on day-to-day production issues.
  • Create and revise Process Drawings, Process Sheets, and routings in Oracle and Matrix.
  • Conduct time studies and implement solutions for bottleneck improvements and line balancing.
  • Coordinate projects involving engineering, production, quality, tool design, and EHS.
  • Ensure the efficiency of the plant and quality of parts remain high through employee involvement.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
