About The Position

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the development, execution, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for new and existing products. Evaluates and troubleshoots process issues focused on improving SQDCI. Leads manufacturing cost reduction projects and collaborates with the cross-functional team to ensure machining and assembly processes are low risk for safety and quality, efficient and at low cost.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a lead role in the manufacturing environment.
  • Proven record of successful launch as it relates to new process introduction and planning efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Proven record of leading cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong 3D CAD skills, at least 2,000 hours of experience on Solidworks
  • Strong drafting and GD&T skills with the ability to perform tolerance stack up analysis.
  • Green Belt / Lean Manufacturing Certification
  • Strong Customer-facing engagement and management skills
  • Communication – Clear and succinct communication skills
  • Technical Competency – is a skilled and technically competent engineer.
  • Excellent manufacturing problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong time management skills
  • Working knowledge with ERP/MRP (preferably Epicor)
  • Demonstrated Project Management skillset.
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable Metrology (ability to determine best metrology method given the known constraints)
  • Action oriented, resilient, pursues and perseveres everything with energy

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of magnetic materials and applications a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and project manage the development, design and validation of existing and new CNC manufacturing and assembly processes utilizing 3D solid-modeling advanced manufacturing methods, with a focus on employee safety, ergonomics, and lean concepts.
  • Ensure manufacturing process meet final customer geometrical tolerances.
  • Determine manufacturing method and estimate setup/run times. (Takt time/cycle time analysis)
  • Support the Team’s efforts in the Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Develop control plans and inspection methods.
  • Define all materials, tooling, fixturing, adhesives, and methods of manufacturing, as needed and ensure safety and quality are taken into consideration throughout the process.
  • Create high quality standard work that reduces human error.
  • Apply GD&T as required to fixture, piece part, and assembly drawings.
  • Fixture Design Capabilities to support Machining and Assembly/Build Fixtures to exacting tolerances.
  • Skilled in the application of Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma Methods.
