About The Position

Advanced Mission Partners (AMP) a wholly owned subsidiary of SSAI is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative manufacturing team in Linthicum, MD. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust manufacturing processes related to aerospace and defense applications. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer leads manufacturing process improvements, supports production programs, transitions engineering development into manufacturing, and provides technical leadership and support across quality, program management, and production teams to ensure product reliability, cost, throughput, and manufacturability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in an Engineering Discipline and a minimum of 5 years of experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing methods, specifically soldering and electronics assembly.
  • Experience with technical writing, specifically work instructions and process documentation based on conversion of complex customer drawings.
  • Experience programming and operating Juki SMT equipment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products and 3D CAD software.
  • Strong analytical, project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining attention to safety, quality, cost, and schedule commitments.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FactoryLogix.
  • Experience in a contract manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of or current certifications for IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and IPC-J-STD-001 with Space Addendum.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, or other regulated manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Solve manufacturing problems with innovative, practical, and sustainable solutions.
  • Own continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and production program documentation.
  • Support the transition from engineering development to manufacturing, including process readiness, documentation, tooling, technical analysis, and production launch activities.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and implement alternate or new manufacturing processes and technologies to continuously improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and throughput.
  • Provide key technical input on product designs for manufacturing ease and cost considerations, including analysis of different design approaches and manufacturing methods.
  • Create and review assembly instructions, manufacturing routings, and process documentation to support repeatable production execution.
  • Review and approve drawings for the Manufacturing Department to ensure manufacturability, process capability, and production readiness.
  • Serve as the engineering lead for cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Program Management, and Production, to identify and eliminate risks, bottlenecks, and significantly enhance product reliability and throughput.
