About The Position

Boyd Thermal by Eaton is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in our Lancaster, PA location. This role leads projects for production, including developing, improving, transitioning, proving out, and executing projects. The engineer will be responsible for leading transitions from engineering to production, improving manufacturing efficiency, leading capital expenditure efforts, designing fixturing and tooling, writing technical reports, and preparing and presenting technical information. The role also involves supporting sales through proposal writing and analysis, and engaging in hands-on engineering activities such as machining, brazing, welding, assembly, and testing. Project management responsibilities include ensuring on-time delivery, maintaining quality standards, customer communication, financial oversight, intellectual property management, hosting customer visits, and supplier communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science (B.S.) degree in engineering
  • 5-10 or more years’ experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on complex topics to top management, engineering staff, customers, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
  • Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be well groomed and dress professionally.
  • Ability to meet government requirements to work on ITAR and DDTC related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead transitions from engineering to production using standard operating procedures.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Lead capital expenditure efforts for the engineering department and plant.
  • Design fixturing and tooling with an approved solid modeling program and creating properly dimensioned drawings to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
  • Write technical reports, proposals, journal papers, and technical articles with minimal review.
  • Independently prepare and present technical and company background presentations and briefings.
  • Support sales through proposal writing, conducting analysis, and generating solutions to customer’s requirements, preparing datasheets, customer visits and preparing cost/bid support information.
  • Perform and direct other engineers, technicians, production associates in the fabrication, test and delivery of hardware, fixtures, and assemblies.
  • Ensure that customer deliveries are met on time and notify Sr. Management immediately if dates are in jeopardy.
  • Ensure production units fabricated meet customer and Boyd Thermal by Eaton’s quality specifications/expectations.
  • Ensure that the customer is notified of any technical or delivery changes/problems immediately upon discovery.
  • Responsible for ensuring each project meets the targeted cost budget.
  • Actively maintain control of company related intellectual property, trade secrets and patents.
  • Host customer visits, including ordering lunches, preparing food tables, coffee stations, stocking refrigerators, and stocking eating utensils, plates, and napkins.
  • Ensure that the supplier timeline reflects internal timeline requirements and maintain supplier communication.
  • Perform machining, brazing, welding, operation of furnaces, assembly work, test setup and testing, and minor electrical work.
