About The Position

Atmus Filtration Technologies is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the evolution of our production capabilities in Cookeville, TN. In this high-impact role, you won’t just manage processes—you will lead the planning, design, and implementation of advanced manufacturing equipment and systems. As a key technical leader, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to drive safety, efficiency, and innovation, helping to shape the future of filtration technology in a culture that values people first. This role is 100% on-site Monday to Friday, with occasional on-call duties.

  • Drawing Interpretation - Integrates product design and manufacturing equipment engineering drawings to support the design and development of an optimal manufacturing process that meets product design specifications.
  • Equipment/Capital Procurement - Selects manufacturing equipment which meets the Atmus manufacturing specifications and meets the project or program needs.
  • Manufacturing Analysis Led Design - Uses digital tools to model and simulate manufacturing processes, equipment and performance to make data driven decisions before changes are made and to drive continuous improvements.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge - Demonstrates the knowledge of manufacturing by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet the function's needs and contribute towards continuous improvement.
  • Manufacturing Prognostics - Applies prognostics techniques by collecting real-time equipment conditions and then use advanced analytics and artificial intelligence technologies to project future failures to eliminate unplanned equipment and systems down time.
  • Process Documentation - Produces written manufacturing procedures in proper sequence which are followed correctly by all approved stakeholders to establish continuity in processes and standardization.
  • Tool and Fixture Design - Selects work-piece-holding devices capable of effectively holding parts and products during a manufacturing process to secure their position to meet functional requirements.
  • Measurement Science - Analyzes measurement processes throughout the relevant traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty relevant to the appropriate applied measurement science, “Metrology” e.g. Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical and Radiation and Physical.
  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, demonstrating a deep understanding of complex production environments.
  • Substantial experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and a wide range of integrated control systems (SCADA, HMI, etc.) to troubleshoot and optimize automated processes.
  • Proven ability to lead maintenance efforts and provide clear technical direction to maintenance personnel, ensuring high equipment uptime without the need for a direct reporting line.
  • A track record of working effectively across departments (Quality, Production, Supply Chain).
  • You must possess the interpersonal savvy to build rapport, resolve conflicts, and "get along with people" to achieve shared plant goals.
  • The ability to function as a leader within a peer group, contributing to engineering strategy and decision-making while maintaining a collaborative team dynamic.
  • Willingness to support a continuous production environment. This includes providing on-site engineering coverage whenever the plant is running.

  • Leads the work for specific projects to create and implement all aspects of a manufacturing processes to ensure safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met.
  • Leads by applying the knowledge or use of manufacturing principles and practices to improve manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Impacts the work by utilizing continuous improvement tools, following the Atmus standards, and leading the development of manufacturing standards and working methods.
  • Leads the communications with and influences key external stakeholders, business leaders, and functional members.
  • Works with internal and external resources on specific project assignments.
  • Leads the advanced knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices as they are applied to Atmus.
  • Maintains relationships and coaches key stakeholders.
