About The Position

Anduril’s Maritime team is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer focused on battery systems to work in Quincy, Massachusetts. The role supports the development and scaling of autonomous underwater vehicle manufacturing. The engineer will own design for manufacturability of battery packs and energy-storage assemblies; create and optimize high-voltage assembly processes; work with vendors, contract manufacturers, and designers; and support quality and safety planning. The role partners closely with electrical and mechanical design engineers to move battery systems from prototype into repeatable production.

Requirements

  • Degree in a technical field such as engineering, mathematics, or a hard science.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a relevant field, preferably manufacturing or design of battery, energy-storage, or electromechanical hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience bringing battery packs or energy-storage systems from design into production, or an equivalent electromechanical hardware background.
  • Ability to creatively deliver hardware in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills and manufacturing expertise.
  • Hands-on experience physically manufacturing hardware, such as cell or module assembly, welding, machining, fabrication, soldering, or assembly.
  • Strong interest in manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Battery pack or cell design experience, including cell selection, module or pack architecture, battery management system integration, thermal management, or safety qualification.
  • Experience with high-voltage systems and safe electrical work practices up to 400 VDC.
  • Familiarity with cell-joining processes such as laser, ultrasonic, or resistance welding, or wire bonding, and with battery test or formation equipment.
  • Experience in maritime robotics, including AUVs, UUVs, USVs, or subsea sensors.
  • Subsea cable splicing or fabrication experience.
  • Experience with pressure vessels or industrial pressure-test equipment.
  • Experience with JIRA, Siemens NX, Teamcenter (PLM), Oracle (ERP), or equivalents.
  • Experience with large-scale, high-mix manufacturing at different stages of product maturity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of manufacturing processes and equipment for battery packs, cell assemblies, and high-voltage power systems.
  • Design and optimize production processes for efficiency, scalability, quality, and safety, including cell handling, module assembly, welding or bonding, and pack integration.
  • Provide design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly feedback to electrical and mechanical design teams on cell selection, pack architecture, thermal management, and pressure-vessel integration.
  • Create and review process maps and work instructions for battery assembly and testing.
  • Identify and implement continuous-improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve quality, and increase productivity.
  • Apply Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to improve manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee manufacturing projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, software, quality, and supply-chain teams to support production ramp-up for new products.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and manufacturing staff.
  • Track technological advancements and industry trends in energy storage and battery manufacturing to drive process innovation.
  • Work with vendors and contract manufacturers on cells, power components, and manufacturing.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as comprehensive and competitive and available at little to no cost to employees.
