About The Position

Apptronik is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to bridge product design and mass production for its AI-powered robotics products. The role is responsible for developing, validating, and launching robust manufacturing processes for new hardware, including defining the equipment, tooling, and process parameters needed to meet quality, cost, and throughput targets. The engineer will champion Design for Excellence (DFx) during product development and lead root-cause analysis of assembly-line issues. The position supports early builds and New Product Introduction (NPI), develops manufacturing documentation and processes, and qualifies tooling and fixtures for precision electromechanical assembly. It also leads manufacturability reviews and production-readiness activities, supports pilot builds, production ramp and contract manufacturer transfer, and owns manufacturing performance measures such as first-pass yield, defects, and rework.

Requirements

  • Strong background in complex hardware assembly, manufacturing process development, tooling, and NPI.
  • Proficiency in CAD.
  • Experience with DFM/DFA, PFMEA, SPC, DOE, and structured root-cause analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years in Manufacturing Engineering, process development, NPI, or complex hardware industrialization.
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.
  • Hearing and speech to communicate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience manufacturing high degree-of-freedom electromechanical assemblies, robotic systems, precision mechanisms, or actuation systems.
  • Experience with cable/tendon-driven mechanisms, precision assembly, sensor integration, tolerance-sensitive assemblies, or calibration.
  • Experience with NX CAD.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Engineering during early builds, providing hands-on assembly and failure-analysis support while translating design intent into scalable manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain MBOMs, Bills of Process, operation sequences, and Work Instructions, ensuring alignment with the EBOM and successful transfer into ERP/MES systems.
  • Develop and qualify manufacturing processes, fixtures, jigs, and tooling for precision electromechanical assembly, alignment, routing, preload, calibration, and functional validation.
  • Lead manufacturability reviews, PFMEA, and technical readiness activities.
  • Support pilot builds, production ramp, contract manufacturer transfer, and ECO/MCO implementation.
  • Own manufacturing performance, including first-pass yield, defects, and rework.
  • Use production and test data to lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
