About The Position

Apptronik is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to serve as the bridge between product design and mass production. The role is responsible for the technical development, validation, and launch of robust manufacturing processes for new hardware products, defining the equipment, tooling, and process parameters needed to meet quality, cost, and throughput targets. The engineer champions Design for Excellence (DFx) during early-stage development and leads technical root-cause analysis of assembly-line roadblocks. The position partners with Engineering during early builds, supports hands-on assembly and failure analysis, and translates design intent into scalable manufacturing processes. It develops manufacturing documentation and qualifies processes, fixtures, jigs, and tooling for precision electromechanical assembly and validation. The engineer leads manufacturability reviews and production-readiness work, supports pilot builds and production ramp, and owns manufacturing performance and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years in Manufacturing Engineering, process development, NPI, or complex hardware industrialization.
  • Strong background in complex hardware assembly, manufacturing process development, tooling, and NPI.
  • Proficiency in CAD.

Nice To Haves

  • NX CAD experience is preferred.
  • Experience manufacturing high-degree-of-freedom electromechanical assemblies, robotic systems, precision mechanisms, or actuation systems.
  • Experience with cable/tendon-driven mechanisms, precision assembly, sensor integration, tolerance-sensitive assemblies, or calibration.
  • Experience with DFM/DFA, PFMEA, SPC, DOE, and structured root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Engineering during early builds, providing hands-on assembly and failure-analysis support and translating design intent into scalable manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain MBOMs, Bills of Process, operation sequences, and Work Instructions; align them with the EBOM and support transfer into ERP/MES systems.
  • Develop and qualify manufacturing processes, fixtures, jigs, and tooling for precision electromechanical assembly, alignment, routing, preload, calibration, and functional validation.
  • Lead manufacturability reviews, PFMEA, and technical readiness activities.
  • Support pilot builds, production ramp, contract manufacturer transfer, and ECO/MCO implementation.
  • Own manufacturing performance, including first-pass yield, defects, and rework; use production and test data to lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
