About The Position

Emerson Tool Company, located in St. Louis, MO, is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our collaborative, global product design and development team. In this role, you will support all stages of new product development—from concept through production—as well as sustaining engineering efforts for our current product lines. You’ll work in a hands on environment that values innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement. With in house prototyping capabilities and a certified UL lab, our engineers actively engage in testing, validation, and physical product evaluations. Emerson Tool Company proudly manufactures RIDGID® Wet/Dry Vacs, ProTeam® commercial products, and related accessories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field.
  • Experience in a design for manufacturing environment, with exposure to new product development and plastics.
  • Ability to evaluate and integrate new manufacturing and assembly technologies.
  • Experience identifying and developing suppliers for molds, equipment, components, or emerging manufacturing technologies.
  • Ability to specify, procure, and validate molds, equipment, and manufacturing assets.
  • Experience supporting cross functional implementation of molds, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Ability to support new product development through capital justification and ROI analysis.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced experience in design for manufacturing, new product development, or plastics engineering.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD, ideally Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
  • Experience in injection mold design, mold flow analysis, and process optimization.
  • Experience with equipment installation, automation technologies, and process improvements.
  • Prior experience with power tool or consumer product design.
  • Demonstrated track record of innovation.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Domestic and international travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, industrial designers, marketing, sales, and operations teams to define product requirements and develop manufacturing solutions.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement new manufacturing technologies and processes, especially in injection molding and multi‑component assembly.
  • Identify and qualify suppliers for injection molds, tooling, equipment, and critical components.
  • Specify, procure, and validate new molds, tooling, and specialty equipment used in production.
  • Stay current on advancements in manufacturing technology and competitive trends through ongoing learning.
  • Support the development and execution of intellectual property strategies, including contributing to patent applications.
  • Establish project budgets, coordinate resources, and manage schedules to ensure timely, efficient project completion.
  • Communicate project status through written and verbal updates and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Identify, analyze, and implement cost‑reduction opportunities.
  • Provide sustaining engineering support to maintain existing products and resolve production issues.
