About The Position

Clarios is seeking a Senior Manufacturing & Controls Engineer to join their team. This role is responsible for the continuous improvement of plant processes and equipment. The engineer will be involved in design and PLC program changes, mechanical and electrical documentation, Six Sigma variation reduction, uptime improvements, and maintenance expense reduction. The position requires the use of problem-solving techniques such as Pareto analysis, cause and effect analysis, multi-variable analysis, FMEA's, and DOE's to find solutions. The engineer will initiate and lead plant teams in developing process improvements, provide technical support for plant operations including maintenance, capital project implementation, and Six Sigma project rollout. This role also acts as a liaison between the plant and Division Engineering personnel, monitors processes to ensure performance to specifications, and implements capital and non-capital projects. Collaboration with quality control and manufacturing personnel to ensure product quality standards are met is essential. The engineer will also review new and modified specifications for introduction into the manufacturing system, identify causes and develop strategies for eliminating re-occurring downtime, and assist in ensuring compliance with OSHA and EPA standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field of study and 5 years of progressive experience in Manufacturing and Controls Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in troubleshooting of automation controls or programming to include Automation, PLC, and HMI programming.
  • 4 years of experience providing technical direction to projects assisting in generation of Allen Bradley programs and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for battery manufacturing processes.
  • 4 years of experience with programming software with at least 3 of the following: RsLogix 500, RsLogix 5000, Factory Talk View, Cognex Insight vision systems, PanelBuilder32, or similar software.
  • 3 years of experience in battery manufacturing or similar manufacturing processes.
  • 3 years of experience with electrical or mechanical design of manufacturing equipment, troubleshooting and replacement of machine components and commissioning.
  • 2 years of experience with continuous improvement principles including Pareto analysis, Kaizen, Lean, or Six Sigma.
  • 2 years of experience programming and troubleshooting automation systems/robotics, Denso, Fanuc or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience coordinating multiple optimization, automation, and manufacturing projects while prioritizing and utilizing available resources.
  • 2 years of experience with CAD and the ability to read, write, and create technical documents and drawings.
  • Any and all experience may be gained concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor process, including new equipment and tools, to ensure performance to specifications.
  • Implement capital and non-capital projects.
  • Work with plant quality control and manufacturing personnel to ensure process and equipment can produce product that meets quality and engineering standards.
  • Review new and modified specifications for proper content and schedule their introduction into the manufacturing system.
  • Identify causes and develop strategies for eliminating re-occurring downtime.
  • Assist with ensuring tools, equipment, and processes comply with OSHA and EPA standards.
