This role offers a dynamic mix of hands-on plant floor support and cutting-edge automation projects in a modern foundry environment. You will be a key player in production support, troubleshooting PLCs, CNCs, robots, and complex automation systems, while also leading improvements and commissioning new equipment. Working closely with maintenance and operations, you’ll gain deep, practical knowledge of foundry processes and equipment. In addition, you will contribute to major capital projects, including travel opportunities for machine qualification and runoffs, giving you exposure to new technologies and systems before they reach the plant. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on solving real-world problems, enjoys being close to the process, and wants to make a direct impact on manufacturing performance. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Controls Engineer is hands-on, technically strong, thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and is comfortable working both independently and alongside operations and maintenance teams. This individual brings deep experience in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), robotics (Fanuc, ABB), and complex automation systems, combined with a strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly on the plant floor. They possess a solid understanding of industrial electrical standards and machine safety, along with the discipline to apply structured problem-solving methods such as 5-Why, 8D, or Shainin. Equally important, the candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and driven to continuously improve equipment performance while building a strong understanding of foundry processes through direct, hands-on involvement.
