Sr. Manager, Tax & Accounting

WFFA Advisors•Floral Park, NY

About The Position

WFFA is adding a Senior Manager to its accounting and tax practice. This is a senior leadership seat reporting to the partners, with Managers and their teams reporting up through you. The role exists so that work can leave the firm at partner quality without a partner needing to touch it. You will own and grow a meaningful client portfolio, hold release authority on that portfolio within defined risk parameters, and serve as the go to resource on the firm's hardest technical issues. Just as important, you will build the Manager tier beneath you and have a real voice in how the firm runs. Protected nonbillable time is built into the role so you can lead technology and process improvements, and you will have access to centralized resources across the Windsor Path platform. There is a defined path to Partner, and the firm is clear about what it takes: consistently carrying partner level responsibility, generating growth the firm can attribute to you, owning relationships and people rather than just tasks, and contributing to how the firm operates beyond your own book.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or tax; Master's or advanced degree preferred
  • CPA required where attest sign off or licensure demands it; an exceptional Tax or CAS leader may be considered without a CPA
  • Significant experience with demonstrated leadership at the Manager level or above
  • Technical depth to advise on the most complex situations in the service line
  • Strong executive presence and relationship management with clients, team members, and outside stakeholders
  • Track record of contributing to practice management and firm operations
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and retain teams
  • Active involvement in professional or community leadership preferred

Responsibilities

  • Own and grow a significant client portfolio, serving as the senior advisor on complex matters
  • Act as final reviewer and release authority on work leaving the firm for your portfolio, without mandatory partner review, within defined risk parameters. Engagements above [$X] dollar or risk threshold, attest opinions, novel technical positions, and key strategic relationships escalate to a Partner
  • Provide technical guidance to the team on the most difficult tax, accounting, and regulatory issues
  • Oversee quality control across the practice area
  • Drive portfolio profitability through pricing, capacity management, and operational efficiency
  • Lead and develop Managers, building accountability and growth in the tier below you
  • Champion technology adoption, process improvement, and use of centralized platform resources
  • Participate in firm governance, committees, and leadership forums
