About The Position

BDC is seeking a Senior Manager, Underwriting to join their team in Mississauga. This role involves proposing high-quality loan proposals of $1M or more for businesses across Canada, utilizing analytical skills, business acumen, and commercial lending experience. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business administration or accounting
  • 3 to 5 years or more of relevant experience
  • Experience in corporate and/or syndicated financing
  • Experience in loan writing and ability to analyze and structure complex financial deals
  • Sound credit judgement coupled with a strong understanding of credit policies and practices
  • Thorough knowledge of Bank products, services, policies and procedures
  • Ability to provide high quality customer service to internal/external clients
  • Ability to develop win-win solutions for the client and BDC through innovative thinking
  • Strong communication skills to be able to interact and negotiate with the internal partners and, in certain instances, with clients.
  • Good time management and priority setting skills in order to meet critical deadlines
  • Strong business acumen
  • Team player with a thorough understanding of the dynamics of the small business environment

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Conducting proper investigations and due diligence activities for loan proposals.
  • Presenting high-quality proposals with appropriate analysis and documentation.
  • Ensuring that risk levels are within the parameters of accepted credit practices and BDC policies and procedures.
  • Analyzing and conducting proper investigations and due diligence for medium to high complexity loan proposals.
  • Developing appropriate terms, pricing, conditions, and covenants.
  • Reviewing loan packages and negotiating with internal partners on deal structuring.
  • Participating in the resolution of compliance or material changes during deal negotiation and structuring.
  • Developing win-win solutions for the client and BDC.
  • Maintaining relationships with business centre personnel, colleagues, and internal partners.
  • Keeping abreast of changes to policies, procedures, credit trends, and regulatory issues.
  • Coaching new employees and BDLs; mentoring and sharing experience with team members.
